Aldie Roof Repair

This Aldie roof repair video explains four common reasons that shingles blow off in high winds

Here in Aldie Virginia, many of the homes are very high and susceptible to having their roof shingles blowing off, due to the strong winds, and needing immediate repair.

Now, when you look at this picture, these are the four most common reasons why we see roof shingles blowing off.

Here, the two nails were over-driven through the roof shingles, and that happens when the air pressure from the air compressor to the nail gun was set too high. The nail head should always be laying flush to the top of the shingle.

This photo shows how high winds in Aldie cause the need for roof repairNow this picture shows two roof nails fastened way too high, and to be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know what this contractor was thinking. Nails should always be placed in the tar line, so this way it’s holding the underlying shingles into place as well.

Now staples used to be a very common many years ago, but most roofers, they use roofing nails. Nails can hold the shingles into place much better than staples, and also most building codes do not allow staples in new construction.

Now in this picture, whenever you see rotted plywood, remove and replace it. So this way, the shingles are being fastened into something really strong and secure, and you don’t have to worry about the roof shingles blowing off.
